From 29 to 30 June 2009, residents of the Main City of Gdansk will take part in an innovative strategy game Future City Game (Future City Game.) In the event the inhabitants of Central City, architects, urban planners, sociologists and city officials will meet to jointly develop the best ideas for improving the quality of life in the city center.
Formal announcement of the results will be held on Tuesday 30 June at. 16.30 in the Office of Gdańsk European Capital of Culture 2016 (Long Market Street 39/40), ao. 18.00 backyard street in the quarter. Beer, St. Spirit, Kolodziejski, and Goat, a special concert will start Tri-Star Team Loco.

Future City Game is part of the international Creative Cities project (Creative City) carried out by the British Council. The game made so far in several cities of the world, including Oslo, Glasgow, Copenhagen. The event aims to develop the best concepts for a revival of streets, neighborhoods or entire cities. The idea of \u200b\u200bactivating people and creating attractive public spaces also perfectly fits in Gdansk efforts to obtain the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016.
Object Games - Yard of the Main City of Gdansk
The project is in the form of two-day workshop. Its purpose is to identify the best ideas to revive the backyards of the Main City of Gdansk, using modern techniques of creative thinking. Concepts that are developed at a workshop intended to help reconcile the interests of residents and authorities in seeking to improve the image of the cultural center of Gdansk.
first project will include two courtyards in the quarters: ul. Beer, St. Spirit, and Kolodziejski and Goat Street. Beer, St. Spirit, Goat and Szewska.
Participants and methodology of urban games
Under the methodology of "Games City of the Future" will participate in workshops ranging from 25 to 30 people and a group of observers. Participants are representatives from all walks of life: the people of the Central City of Danzig, young architects from the University of Technology, planners from the Office for the Development of Gdansk, social animators from the Gdansk University and representatives of the Department of Public Utilities Office of the City of Gdansk and the Gdansk Municipal Real Estate Management. Workshop observer may be any person interested in the modern organization of urban space and solving the problems of their inhabitants.
Game Master will conduct the participants through 10 stages of the game, which include: an analysis of global issues and local perspectives of the city (economic, social, ecological, cultural), generate ideas for the future, testing the ideas among professionals in the field, residents, tourists , officials and observers and a final presentation to the forum concept developed in the groups. The last step, which involved both the player and observers, is to assess all the concepts developed. Criteria to be considered include: attractiveness, innovation, the convergence of local and global challenges, involvement with the community, the possibility of execution.
